A ranking that can be explained

The result should answer the query and show a genuinely comparable price. A shop cannot buy its placement today.

Product search

Textual match with the name and brand carries the greatest weight: the start of the name, an exact brand and a whole word take precedence over a partial match. Only then does the number of current comparable offers help. For a typo we use approximate matching only when the exact part of the search found nothing, and we flag the result.

Browsing categories

Without a text query we prioritise products with a larger number of current offers; we break ties by a stable name. The user can choose sorting by price or number of offers.

Offers for a single product

We rank offers with known shipping by total price: product plus shipping. We don't declare offers without known shipping the cheapest and list them only after comparable total prices. Stock availability and freshness determine whether an offer is eligible for display at all.

What does not enter the ranking

Fifus currently does not accept payment for position, CPC preference, affiliate priority or sponsored ranking. If commercial placement is introduced, it will be clearly marked on every affected offer and separated from the organic ranking.

Regulatory restrictions

A product may be relevant and cheap and still not appear if it is blocked, awaiting regulatory review, does not belong to the safe search mode or has no current authorised offer. These safety rules take precedence over the score.
